The Chinese characters for siler root are 防風, Romanized as Fáng Fēng, and pronounced like “Fong Fung.” It means “wind break” like a row of trees or a built up mound of earth to protect from strong winds. A windbreaker jacket is 風衣, Fēng Yī.
